”Så som i himmelen” is a powerful and uplifting musical about the transformative power of music, the courage to be true to oneself, and what happens when people dare to truly connect.
When the world-renowned conductor Daniel Daréus (Philip Jalmelid) suffers a breakdown, he returns to his childhood village in search of peace and quiet. There, he encounters the villagers—each with their own dreams, fears, and life stories. Among them are the charming Lena (Tuva B Larsen); the parish’s conservative priest Stig (Christopher Wollter); his life-affirming wife Inger (Åsa Fång); and Gabriella’s jealous husband Conny (Robin Stegmar).
The church choir consists of a colorful group of personalities, including the energetic local shopkeeper Arne (Peter Apelgren), the beautiful-voiced Gabriella (Sanna Nielsen), Holmfrid (Henric Joneskär), Olga (Kajsa Reingardt), Tore (Rikard Björk), and others. Daniel reluctantly takes on the role of choir leader, but through the music something is awakened—both within himself and in those around him. As the choir’s sound grows stronger, so too do the relationships between the people.
Love, jealousy, power, and reconciliation collide in a story where community is put to the test and every voice matters.
With strong characters, moving music, and a deeply human theme, As It Is in Heaven is a musical that touches the soul—a story about daring to listen, daring to feel, and daring to sing your own unique voice.
The musical phenomenon premieres on September 17 at Lorensbergsteatern, in a completely unique version created by the original creators behind the work.
