It's been over 30 years since Colin Nutley's film Änglagård with Helena Bergström, Rikard Wolff, Sven Wollter, Viveka Seldahl and others found its way into our hearts. When the film premiered in cinemas in 1992, it was seen by 1.4 million people and at the Guldbagge Awards, it won the most prizes, including Best Film and Best Director. The film was also Sweden's submission to the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film category and is today an integral part of Swedish film history.
Now you have the opportunity to relive the film classic as a musical. Just like in the film, the musical's engrossing story begins with news of a death that becomes the catalyst for Fanny Zander's search for her roots. Together with her loyal, extravagant companion Zac, they leave their nightclub life in Berlin to return to the small village of Yxared, located deep in the forests of Västergötland. Their grand entrance into the small community creates a culture clash that stirs up emotions among the villagers but also builds new, lifelong bonds. Rut Flogfält (Sanna Nielsen/Helen Sjöholm) has everything to lose when Fanny appears in Yxared – in contrast to Claes Malmberg's/Tommy Körberg's character Gottfrid Pettersson, whose quiet bachelor life with his brother Ivar (Gustav Levin) flourishes when the colorful pair enters their lives. As Fanny Zander, we see Tuva B Larsen, who made her acclaimed breakthrough in Sweden as the female lead in the successful musical As It Is in Heaven. Zac, Fanny's colorful companion, is played by Lindy Larsson who was part of the original production. We also see experienced musical artists and beloved actors such as Fredrik Lycke, Jenny Holmgren, Per Svensson, a large ensemble, and a twelve-piece orchestra conducted by Erik Månsson.
It is Vicky Entertainment Production, together with co-producer 2Entertain, who are behind the newly written musical successes Änglagård and Så som i Himmelen. The musical Änglagård, written by Fredrik Kempe, Edward af Sillén and Daniel Réhn, is based on Colin Nutley's film Änglagård.
Don't miss this acclaimed musical experience – a lavish and heartwarming performance filled with laughter, tears, love, dance, and song!
